You could call it a ‘teaching cellar’ if it was not so pleasurable.”“Cellar 2” includes 475 lots of important parcel quantities of 1980s Bordeaux, ready to drink and many keenly priced, including: – 15 cases of Léoville Poyferré 1982 (est. $1,600/2,250 per case) – 12 cases of Calon Ségur 1982 (est. $1,800/2,500 per case) – 20 cases of Haut Bailly 1985 ($700/1,000 per case)“Cellar 3” consists of 39 lots, featuring a great selection of Bordeaux from the 1980s to 2003, many in oversize bottles. Increasingly, I see these exciting giant bottles being laid down for children or grandchildren, with future landmark birthdays and marriages in mind. This really works, as there is nothing so celebratory as a mature, classic Imperial gracing the table when family history is being made.”“Cellar 4”offers 251 lots, including quantities of contemporary Bordeaux highlighted by the 2000 and 2003 vintages.
